This new basement bathroom has a shot of color. Oak cabinets with Cinnabar stain from Brookhaven set off the Bisazza tiles that frame the mirror. Finding the tile to go with the cabinetry was one of those “know it when you see it” moments, we just had to have it. A neutral counter top and field tile in the shower really allow the mosaic tile to pop. Even though there is no natural light or ventilation, with pendants, down lights and a good (but quiet!) fan light, this bathroom is fresh and bright.

As the tastes of homeowners change with time, they may require to redo the designs for various areas in their houses. The kitchen is a place where people spend a lot of time. Kitchen remodel is therefore an activity that many people carry out. It requires adequate planning and mastery of where to put what.

To achieve the right quality of an interior design job, a lot of planning is necessary. The various objects used play two roles, an aesthetic one for beauty and a functional one for the uses of this area. It is natural that people enjoy working in an attractive area with good ambiance.

Among the major determining factors of the design adopted for a particular place is the availability of space. Another major factor is the budget for the whole job. High quality finishes are expensive and thus homeowners should be ready to invest substantial amounts in the project.

There are various things used specifically for the cooking process and should have adequate storage space set aside for them in the cooking area. The most common storage devices are shelves and cupboards. Some people also use boxes and crates depending on the items that require storage.

Each individual has a preferred floor plan. They choose from the open plan and the enclosed plan. The open option requires less space and gives a lot of freedom of movement. The enclosed option is a bit more restricted since each area is in a separate room. This is expensive and eats up space with the partitions.

The island table is among the emerging trends in this area. People like it because it is both fashionable and functional. It offers increased working space and has comparatively smaller footprint. Any kitchen fitted with this table displays a sense of style and accentuates the beauty of the design.

Before hiring a professional to carry out the task, the owner requires to have a clear definition of needs. This is what he or she will use as the specification for the job. The budget and prioritization of tasks should also be kept in mind when carrying out the job. This ensures success.

Many contractors on the market would do the job according to the specifications of the particular individual. They prefer different materials for their jobs. It is necessary that a person indicate their preferable products and the quality desired for the whole job.

The professional that the individual chooses for this job should have a good reputation for satisfying customer needs. This increases the chances that he or she will meet the needs of the homeowner. Reliability is another consideration when selecting a contractor. He or she should be able to complete the job in time for set deadlines.

Kitchen remodel is a process with a set of complex processes. It does not concentrate on the beautification as many people may think, but rather comprises many structural strengthening activities. It also offers the individual a variety of products and designs to choose from all of which are greatly attractive.

One of the things that will spice up your home is to undergo a kitchen remodeling. This can be accomplished by one of the many professional home remodeling companies or by doing it yourself. The choice is yours and much can be saved if you decide to tackle this project on your own.

Depending on the size and shape of your current kitchen, there are many things that can be done to make this room a little nicer. You could be in the best position to enlarge the room, if possible. You can look into the many space saving technologies that are out there. Making the kitchen a nicer place might put you in the mood to get those cooking lessons you have been thinking about.

The many built ins might interest you if your kitchen is not very large. A new oven or microwave might be envisioned in an entirely different way. Room might be made for a different type of refrigerator or a larger freezer. The possibilities for updating the abilities of your preparation and cooking skills can not be underestimated.

The purpose of your remodeling might be to make this, the most used room in your home, a warmer, inviting place to be. The addition of warmer wood tones would aid in this as well as the placement of a eating surface that could be incorporated in any new plans. This will help in making this room more accessible to all in the home.

When trying to decide about whether to have a commercial company come and take over or to do it yourself, you need to reach this decision early on. The remodeling company can come in and assist you in the planning of your new cooking area. They can show you things they have done and provide pictures of other areas around the world. They will be able to show you technologies that work that you might not have seen, yet. They are also in the position of recommending counters, cabinets, sinks and appliances.

When you are doing it yourself, a plan must be designed to ensure all things are dealt with without leaving anything out. Research must be accomplished to see what is out there and notes should be made to list those you like. You might look at several different ideas on the Internet or in the many books on remodeling available. Get a lot of ideas together, including those from friends and neighbors whose kitchens exhibit elements you like.

Take all of those ideas and work through them to draw out, on paper, what it is you want to have in your new galley. Draw in pencil so you can makes changes and include all of the many things you have looked at. Then after that, you will need to fine tune it down to what is possible in your space.

The kitchen remodeling of your dreams begin with that dream and proceeds through the final completion of the project. Whether you need a modern kitchen or a more traditional look, the choice is yours. You are limited only by your imagination.

I just had the good fortune to spend 3 days at the Monogram Experience Center in Louisville, KY. They invite groups of designers to learn about and use their Monogram appliances, having us cook 5 of our 7 meals. The final breakfast was an Iron chef style challenge, where the secret ingredient was popcorn!

Each kitchen was equipped with a 48″ professional range, an induction cooktop, an Advantium oven and a convection wall oven. I am a big fan of induction cooking and had great fun bringing pasta to the boil in a few minutes and using the fine control to cook the sauce. The Advantium was amazing; my fellow chef cooked a beautiful quiche in 15 minutes! The gentleman in our group was a bacon master, producing perfect bacon in the convection oven and then some more on the griddle.

It was very interesting to meet with the design teams from Refrigeration and Dishwashing to see some of the products they are developing and give them our input as designers and consumers. There is a lot of research and thought that goes into developing high end appliances and I was pleased to learn more about the details of their products.

With side trips to Churchill Downs, Jim Beam Distillery, the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, and staying at the 21C Museum Hotel, the whole three days was Southern Hospitality at its best.
